"Remember, we all stumble, every one of us. That's why it is a comfort to go hand in hand."
-Emily Kimbrough
Last night (in the 10 degree Chicago weather) after a not-so-great Holiday Pops performance (we left during the intermission) and a very odd waitress (oh and two cocktails) Nikki and Beth hopped into cabs and Kara and I headed to the EL stop on Randolph in downtown Chicago, just a block from Millenium Park.
10 minutes after waiting for the purple line, I asked the CTA operator if the purple line was still running. CTA Man's Response: "Oh HELL no, that stopped running at 7:15, where you girls from, Kansas?!"
1 minute later Kara and I were both lying on the dirty EL steps after tripping over each other, running up the stairs trying to get to the other platform to catch the brown line train just pulling into the station. Our boots were scrapped up, gloves were dirty from breaking our falls and my knee was throbbing from smacking against the edge of the metal step. (And of course we missed the train.)
But at least we had fallen together; most importantly, were laughing hysterically at the entire situation.
Yes, indeed, "we all stumble". And thank goodness we have best friends next to us for all of that stumbling, big or small.

Cheers to whatever stumbling you've done with best friends right next to you!
