Oh Valentine's Day. Being single can be annoying any day, but especially on a national holiday devoted to being in love. As the day approaches I find myself making sarcastic and cynical comments about the day. And that's because I am not in love.
But just because I am not in love with a person for whom I want to purchase Hallmark cards and other materials items doesn't mean I can't celebrate the things I am in love with. Right?
Well, that's what I am going with ... I will spend the weekend celebrating the things I am in love with.
For example: I am in love with cupcakes. I am going to make cupcakes for my doormen cause they are really great guys. It's so nice to start off the morning by saying a very cheerful "Good morning!" to my doorman while he checks to be sure I have my gloves, scarf, hat and umbrella (if applicable.) It's also really nice to have a smiling face welcoming you home after a long and tiring day.
Another example: I am in love with my bed. I've had the same antique white wrought iron bed since I was about 5 years old. Crawling into my bed is like crawling into my safe haven. Therefore, I will finally put the bed skirt on that has been sitting in my closet since September.
Instead of being cynical and bitter this Valentine's Day weekend, I will make a to-do list that will make me feel good. Stay tuned for Monday's post to see how that goes ;)
