Reading Rainbow

Who watched Reading Rainbow on PBS as a child?  Me, me, I did, I did!!

I love to read.  I love books.  I've read Pride and Prejudice at least ten times and I love that I feel like I am visiting old friends each time I open it up and read the first chapter.  My parents were constantly reading books when my sister and I were younger -- a book was always near: lying on their bed side table, waiting on the bathtub ledge, in my dad's briefcase, or in my mom's car for her to read during carpool breaks.  I love the history of family books too; they are such meaningful heirlooms.  I have a book of my Grandmother's in my apartment, front and center on my bookshelf and just below is my father's favorite collection of books (Patrick O'Brien's Master and Commander/Jack Aubrey series).

Whenever I have a bigger home, I hope I can create a reading nook for myself.  Some place to curl up on Sunday afternoons, some place to escape whatever is going on in life and dive into a fabulous story.

Here are some wonderful inspirations:

Clearly I am afan of overstuff white reading chairs!  The open windows and sunshine looks amazing to me today.  It's about 50 degrees in Chicago (a very mean tease of warm weather, that I am SURE is months away) and the thought of curling up in the sunlight in one of these reading nooks is simply heavenly.
